Peter Obi has been put on the Labour Party's 2027 presidential ticket reserve list

The National Convention, the Labour Party’s top decision-making body, has declared that Mr. Peter Obi, the party’s leader, will receive the ticket for 2027.

The party also declared that, should he choose to run for reelection on the party platform, Abia State Governor Alex Oti will have the right of first refusal.

A communiqué released following the party’s National Convention on Wednesday in Nnewi, Anambra State, included this resolution.

Comrade Julius Abure, the party’s re-elected National Chairman, and Umar Faruk Ibrahim, the National Secretary, signed it.

Part of the communiqué said this: “The Convention in session recommends that the party’s 2027 presidential ticket be exclusively reserved for His Excellency, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, the National Leader of the party, based on the antecedents of the Presidential candidate before, during, and after the 2023 General Election.
