‘Yahoo Boys will “end in destruction,” Oyedepo cautions internet fraudsters

Bishop David Oyedepo

Bishop David Oyedepo, the Pesiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel International, has denounced scam artists and “Yahoo Boys,” claiming their future is tarnished.

The phrase “Yahoo Boy” originates from the Yahoo email service. It is frequently used to describe young guys who commit online fraud, including advanced fee fraud and other scams.

Oyedepo counseled young people to abide by the law on Sunday while serving at a Canaanland church.

He warned people engaged in the practice of deceiving others that their actions would only result in resentment and ruin.

“Nobody playing games has a future in the kingdom. Hear this and hear it forever. If that is your trade, stop it.

“Yahoo Yahoo business, stop it. Grabbing people’s ATM card details, stop it! You are on a very fast lane that always ends in bitterness and destruction.

“There is the law to mind. The law of sowing and reaping. The law of seedtime and harvest. The law of giving and receiving that is the law.

“Engage with that law cheerfully. Engage with that law willingly. Engage with that law tirelessly and watch how you begin to lay up gold with time,” he said.

Following the condemnation of internet scammers by Pastor David Ibiyeomie, the founder of Salvation Ministries and prominent preacher, Oyedepo is the latest cleric to express disapproval towards them.

Ibiyomie described “Yahoo Boys” as nothing more than robbers in a sermon from 2022.

Because they are taking advantage of others, he said, cyber fraudsters will “know no peace.”
