Veteran actor, Jimi Solanke funeral is on Friday

At a private cemetery on Friday, April 5, the late, renowned folk music musician Olujimi Solanke will be laid to rest.

In Ipara-Remo, Ogun State, at the Methodist Church Nigeria, there will be funeral services.

Solanke, an accomplished artist with accomplishments in music, dancing, playwriting, acting, visual arts, and poetry, died on Monday, February 5, 2024, at the age of 81.

The late Solanke’s family declared on Tuesday that the week-long events will culminate on April 5, 2024, with his last interment in his hometown of Ipara-Remo, Ogun State.

The funeral plans for the late Solanke’s family state that on Monday, April 1, 2024, a Choral Concert will take place at Ibudo Asa, Ipara Remo. Other events that will take place during this time include a Night of Tribute at Freedom Park in Lagos, a Candlelight Procession at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-ife, Osun State, and a Candlelight Procession at Ipara-Remo, Ogun State.

The last burial program will conclude with a thanksgiving service on April 7, 2024.

According to the funeral plans, there will be a Christian wake at Methodist Church Nigeria, Ipara-Remo, Ogun State, on April 4, and numerous groups, associations, and professional bodies will celebrate the departed from April 1-3.

Among other things, there will be cultural and masquerade exhibits on Saturday, April 6.
