Updated: Super Falcons win South Africa in Olympics qualifiers

In the first leg of the football qualifications for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, Nigeria’s Super Falcons defeated South Africa 1-0 thanks to a goal from captain Rasheed Ajibade in the 43rd minute.

The game took place on Friday at Abuja’s Moshood Abiola Stadium.

In the second half, Randy Waldrum’s women managed to hold onto their slim lead despite South Africa’s best attempts to tie the score.

The Falcons will now need to hold onto their lead on Tuesday, April 9, in Pretoria for the second leg.

The tiebreaker will earn a spot in the Paris Olympic Games.
