They were detained and charged with a crime on March 1, 2019, along NTA Road, Ado Ekiti, for allegedly robbing one Gbenga Ajayi of his Toyota Corolla automobile at gunpoint.

An Assistant Chief Legal Officer, O.F Ajumobi, who prosecuted the case for Ekiti State, said, “The offences of Conspiracy and Armed Robbery are contrary to Section 6(b)of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap.R11, Vol.14, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004”.

Ajumobi presented eleven evidence and produced two witnesses in favor of his case.

The defendants did not call any witnesses; instead, Akin Abon, Alanu Olumuagun, and Adeyinka Opaleke presented evidence in support of their positions.

In the court judgment on Wednesday, Justice John Adeyeye held that “the prosecution proved all the ingredients of the offences against the defendants beyond reasonable doubt”.

As a result, Adeyeye found all of the defendants guilty and condemned them to death by hanging for the two offenses.
