Three men were charged with possessing explosives in Ekiti
Three men have been charged by the Ekiti State Police with possessing explosives in a Chief Magistrate Court in the Ado Ekiti District.
A count of explosives possession is being brought against the defendants, 26-year-old Sanni Garba, 57-year-old Haruna Musa, and 46-year-old Adamu Abdullahi.

Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, the police prosecutor, said the court on Friday that the defendant had committed the crime in Ado Ekiti on June 5.
The prosecutor alleged that “the defendants had in their possession three 32mm cartridges, detonating cord and firing cables.
“The offence contravened Section 1(c) and was punishable under Section 1(e) of the Explosive Act 1964 and Explosive Regulation 1967,” Oriyomi stated.

In order to review the case file and gather his witnesses, he begged the court to postpone the hearing.
Nonetheless, the defendants entered a not guilty plea to the accusation that was brought against them.
Mr. Ademola Richard, the defendants’ attorney, begged the court to release the defendants on bail, promising not to post more than the required amount.

The defendant was granted bail of N500,000 with one surety each in an equivalent amount by Chief Magistrate Olarewaju Owoleso.
For a hearing, the court postponed the case until July 29.
