The FG Drops Treason Charge Against Sowore.

The Federal Government has ended the treasonous criminal prosecution that was brought against media entrepreneur and politician Omoyele Sowore.
The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), submitted a notice of discontinuance on February 14th, communicating the decision to end the trial to the Federal High Court in Abuja.


The notification reads as follows: “By virtue of the power conferred on me under Section 174 (1) (c} of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, Section 107 (1) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015 and all other powers enabling me in that behalf, I Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi, SAN intend to discontinue charge No: FHC/ABJ/CR/235/2019″.

Two days prior to the #RevolutionNow rally tagged “Days of Rage, scheduled for August 5, 2019, ” Sowore Omoyele was taken into custody by DSS agents at midnight on August 3, 2019.

He was repeatedly charged by the DSS after his arrest, but after intense pressure, he was eventually freed.

The legal team of human rights advocate and pro-democracy Femi Falana, SAN, was representing Sowore in court.

According to punchng correspondent, Sowore has vowed to sue the Federal Government and the Department of State Services for a whopping ₦100 billion, alleging that they should be held liable for the time and money lost, the financial and psychological harm done to him and his family, his businesses, his wife and kids, and his extended family, as well as for the alleged 2021 assassination of his younger brother, Olajide Sowore.
