The federal character commissioner’s suspension is upheld by the APC South East Zone

Ginika Tor

On Tuesday, the All Progressives Congress’s South East Zonal Executive Committee upheld Mrs. Ginika Tor’s suspension as imposed by the party’s Enugu State Chapter.

Tor was suspended from the Federal Character Commission due to allegations of gross misconduct, anti-party actions, and attempts to establish a parallel executive branch of the party within the state. Tor was a Federal Commissioner representing Enugu State.

However, following the party’s Tuesday Enugu Zonal Executive Committee meeting, the zonal leadership of the party reviewed and approved the recommendation from the Enugu State chapter suspending Tor.

The suspension of the commissioner from the party has been accepted by the zonal executive committee, according to a statement signed by Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, National Vice Chairman, APC South East.

The statement claimed that on March 10, 2024, Tor had reportedly participated in anti-party activities and released remarks with the intention of discrediting, defaming, and inciting hatred toward the Enugu State Executive and the leadership of the APC Enugu.

Additionally, she established a rival/factional State Executive Committee in the state of Enugu for the All Progressives Congress, in violation of Section 21:2 of the party’s updated 2022 Constitution.

“The suspension of Mrs. Ginika Tor from the All Progressives Congress is hereby ratified by the South East Zonal Executive of the APC.”

According to The PUNCH, copies of the resolution approving the suspension of the federal character commissioner were sent to Sen. Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo State and leader of the APC South-East; Chief Emma Eneukwu, the APC’s deputy national chairman for the South; and Chief Uche Nnaji, the minister of innovation, science, and technology. Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje is the party’s national chairman.
