The Schemes of Service for Polytechnics in Nigeria will soon be accessible, according to a statement released by the Federal Government through Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head of the Federation’s Civil Service.

This was said by Yemi-Esan on Thursday in Abuja when she welcomed Prof. Idris Bugaje, the Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education, to her office.

She explained that “The scheme of service for polytechnics will be released soon. Work has been concluded but for one area of contention.”

The Public Service Institute of Nigeria would shortly start the process of having its courses accredited by the NBTE, according to the Head of Service, who expressed satisfaction with the working relationship with the NBTE.

She revealed that already, “funds have been provided for the accreditation of courses of two of the six Federal Training Centres while efforts were on to ensure that all FTCs have full accreditation with NBTE.”

Prior to this, Prof. Idris Bugaje, the Executive Secretary of the NBTE, thanked the HoSF for approving the first through sixth of the National Skills Qualification’s nine levels.

Bugaje pointed out that, “the singular action has placed Nigeria on the global skills landscape and we are grateful for that.”

The NBTE boss described the HOSF as the “Mother of Skills in Nigeria” for her critical role in ensuring the approval of NSQ levels one to six at the National Council on Establishment meeting.

He declared that her deed would live on forever in the annals of Nigerian skill development history.

He also appealed for an early release of the Schemes of Service for Polytechnics, pointing out that, “the long wait is adversely affecting the system and industrial harmony in the Polytechnics and that is why we are pleading that it be released on time.”
