Governors, dignitaries present as Saraki buries mother in Lagos

In Lagos on Friday, Florence Saraki, the mother of former Senate President Bukola Saraki, was laid to rest.

A private burial took place after the funeral service, which was held in the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos.

Leading lawmakers, dignitaries, and governors from around the nation attended the event.

Sharing photos from the event on X.com on Friday, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State wrote, “Today, we were in Lagos to attend the funeral of Chief Mrs. Florence Saraki, the mother of our brother, HE Bukola Saraki.

“It was a celebration of Mama’s impactful life and legacy. Our prayer is that God will continue to grant the entire family the fortitude to bear the loss and comfort them.”

Similarly, a former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who also attended the event wrote on X.com, “I sincerely condoled with the entire Saraki family, over their loss, while urging them to carry on with the legacies of their beloved mother.

“Mama was known for being a strong disciplinarian who stood on what was right. May God Almighty who called her home, grant her eternal rest and grant the entire Saraki family, the fortitude to bear her sad, irreplaceable loss.”

Among those present were Governors Peter Mbah of Enugu State, Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, Duoye Diri of Bayelsa State, Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, and Ademola Adeleke of Osun State.

Business tycoons Aliko Dangote and Adedeji Adeleke, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Senator Bala A. Mohammed, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party, and his spouse Ify Aniebo are among the other prominent individuals.

David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, is an Afrobeat musician who was observed at the event.

According to PUNCH Online, Mrs. Saraki passed away on June 18 at the age of 89.
