Three alleged vandals have been taken into custody in Kano by members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kano State Command, anti-vandalism unit.

According to a statement provided to The PUNCH on Friday by Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer for the Command, two of the suspects were taken into custody at Eid Ground, IBB Way in Kano City.

“The operatives while on night patrol duty apprehended two suspected vandals at Eid ground, IBB way, Kano.

“The suspects, Sunusi Musa, 30 and Musbahu Habibu, 32 were arrested in the night around 1630 hrs on Wednesday while melting large caches of streetlight cables they vandalised and stole at Koki Quarters, Kano Municipal LGA, KanIn a similar vein, he reported that Muhammad Ado, 47, the suspected vandal, was apprehended by 1100 hours at Race Course Road, Nassarawa GRA, Kano, as he was packing vandalized streetlight cables.

According to Abdullahi, the Corps is currently holding all three of the suspects while it conducts its investigation.

“On completion of the investigation, they’ll be made to face the full wrath of the law while the command is on the trail of three accomplices of the criminals who are at large,” he added.

According to him, the command, led skillfully by Commandant Mohammed Falala, issued a warning to both criminals and vandals of important national assets to refrain from committing heinous acts of vandalism. The Corps has since initiated a vigorous manhunt for criminal elements, and those found will be brought to justice.
