NNPCL and partner start producing oil at OML 85 with a 20,000 barrel per day goal
Oil production from the asset, commonly known as Madu Field, has started at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and its Joint Venture partner in OML 85, First Exploration and Petroleum Development Company Limited.
An average of 20,000 barrels per day are anticipated to be produced from the First E&P-operated field, which is situated in shallow waters offshore Bayelsa State.

Olufemi Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the NNPCL, made a statement on Friday that included this information.
Speaking about the development, Mr. Mele Kyari, the chief executive officer of NNPCL Group, characterized the start of oil production at the Madu Field as a noteworthy milestone that will help achieve the overall objective of reaching the production needed to spur economic growth and drive revenue growth.
He claims that the accomplishment demonstrates President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s dedication to maximizing the country’s oil and gas resource output by creating an environment that is welcoming to both current and potential investors.

In addition to thanking the stakeholders for their assistance, Kyari clarified that the 20,000 barrels per day increase by an indigenous oil business indicates the stakeholders’ commitment to attaining Nigeria’s economic development.

Recall that in 2018, the NNPC Ltd./First E&P JV made the Final Investment Decision on the development of the Madu Field and its sister field, Anyala.
The JV’s Abigail-Joseph Floating Production Storage and Offloading Unit, which can store up to 800,000 barrels of crude oil, will handle the processing of the Madu Field’s output.
