The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission was given a seven-day ultimatum by the NLC and TUC to revoke the raised pricing.

The Federal Government, however, urged Nigerians to endure the short-term suffering, warning that a rate reversal would be disastrous for the electricity industry.

In the midst of this, the Federal Government has been recommended by the International Monetary Fund to eliminate power subsidies in other bands in order to rescue the economy.
