NEW: 36 Speakers support state police
On Thursday, the Nigerian National Assembly’s ongoing efforts to amend the 1999 constitution to establish state policing in the nation were endorsed by the speakers of the 36 Houses of Assembly.
At the conclusion of their conference in Abuja, the Speakers announced their resolution.

Currently, the Senate and House of Representatives are attempting to change a number of constitutional provisions, including as those pertaining to state police, fiscal federalism, local government financial autonomy, and the FCT’s mayoral status.
