Navy probes into the death of a civilian employee following a dispute with coworkers
According to the Nigerian Navy, an inquiry into the death of Mr. Ifeanyi Onumaegbu, a member of its civilian personnel, has started.
Vice-Adm. Emmanuel Ogalla, the Chief of Naval Staff, made this announcement on Thursday in Lagos.

He clarified that Onumaegbu passed away at his place of employment, the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital in Ojo, Lagos.
He went on to say that the deceased had been a civilian employee of the Ministry of Defense since 2009 and had been employed at the NNRH Laboratory Department.
”The Navy is deeply saddened by the demise of Mr Ifeanyi Onumaegbu and the circumstances surrounding his death.

”On March 31, he was found lifeless in his office at NNRH.
“A preliminary investigation revealed that on March 26, the deceased was involved in an altercation with a civilian lady and some NN personnel in Navy Town Barracks,” he said.
According to Ogalla, the woman from the civilian altercation had been identified and was “currently under close custody,” along with all other accused troops.

In response to the family’s request for an autopsy, NN arranged for the deceased’s body to be transferred to a respectable government hospital in Lagos, he added.
“The NN further wishes to assure his family and the public that all necessary measures are being taken to unravel the cause of his death.
“Any person found culpable would be prosecuted according to extant laws,” he said.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the Joint Executive Council of the Ministry of Defense protested Onumaegbu’s passing peacefully on April 8th.
Every Ministry of Defence civilian personnel unit participated in the demonstration.
