In order to reduce the degree of insecurity and other criminal activity throughout the state’s 13 local government areas, the Nasarawa State House of Assembly has called on Umar Nadada, the state’s commissioner of police, to see to it that all illegal miners are removed from the state.

In order to do this, the House encouraged the state government to make sure that all miners complete the legal requirements before receiving licenses to operate within the state.

This was revealed by House Speaker Danladi Jatau during the urgent public importance items brought up by Kokona East representative Daniel Ogazi at the House of Assembly on Monday in the state capital of Lafia.

The House is concerned about the increased rate of illegal mining activities, particularly in the Kokona LGA, which is causing stress over the protection of lives and properties of the affected people, according to Jatau, who bemoaned the detrimental effects of illegal miners in the state.
