After reportedly disposing of their tenant’s body in a canal, Bola Abiodun, the landlord, and her husband, simply known as Sunday, flew out of their Temidire village house in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The tenant, known by the name Iya Ibukun, had previously been struck and killed on May 5, 2024 by a hit-and-run driver, according to a police source in the command who was aware of the report but did not want to be identified because he was not allowed to talk on behalf of the command.

Our correspondent discovered that the deceased had started self-medicating after the accident, despite having varying degrees of injuries. This was due to her fear of not having enough money to pay for her medical expenditures.

Our correspondent was informed that the renter died in her apartment a few days later after turning to self-medication.

The landlady and her husband were accused of removing the body from the room and disposing of it in a nearby canal.

Residents who had doubts about the purported incident reportedly called Mosuru Akindele, the head of the Community Development Association, and Olabode Kazeem, a youth leader, was also contacted after the incident.

“There was an accident; a hit-and-run driver allegedly knocked the tenant down. She didn’t go to the hospital and started treating herself at home. She died a few days after the incident. The landlady and her husband conspired to dump the body in a canal,” the cop told our correspondent.

Our correspondent received confirmation of the occurrence from State Police Public Relations Officer Omolola Odutola, who also stated that efforts were on to retrieve the deceased from the canal.

“Our men went to the house and discovered a two-year-old boy in a welfare facility. Meanwhile, our men combed the entire canal in search of the body, but we haven’t found anything,” she said.

A few years ago, it was claimed that Sunday Omosule, the landlord, was apprehended after he was accused of using a pestle to kill his tenant’s four-year-old son.
