I didn’t reconcile Don Jazzy, D'Banj - Mr. Macaroni

Debo Adebayo, a comedian and social media influencer, also known as Mr. Macaroni, has stated that he did not start the process of bringing famed music producer Michael Collins Ajereh, nicknamed Don Jazzy, and well-known veteran vocalist Daniel Oyebanjo, aka D’Banj, back together.

Don Jazzy and D’Banj established Mo Hit Records in 2004 and went on to dominate the Nigerian music market until a conflict in 2012 caused them to part ways.

But after a 12-year breakup, Don Jazzy and D’Banj appeared to get back together on Friday.

The two were seen cuddling and exchanging pleasantries in a now-viral video that D’banj and DonJazzy shared on Instagram on Friday.

The music video served as a promo for Dbanj’s recently released single, “Since 04,” in which he appears to be paying homage to Mo Hit Records, of which he was a key shareholder together with Don Jazzy and to which he belonged.

In addition, the video was posted to honor Mr. Macaroni, who turned 50 on Friday. On Friday, Mr. Macaroni shared the video on X and commented, “It’s My Birthday and I got the perfect Gift.”

But some X users speculated that Mr. Macaroni “fulfilled his words” by starting the process of bringing Don Jazzy and D’Banj back together after seeing an old post of his.

Mr. Macaroni, who is now known as X, tweeted in March 2013 that he had a strong feeling that he will make amends with D’banj and Donjazzy.

On Friday, though, Mr. Macaroni acknowledged that he was not the one to start the reconciliation. He went on to say that D’Banj and Don Jazzy were “cool” earlier.

“Well, I didn’t do any reconciliation because they have been cool,” he wrote in his letter. But Jah knows that I have always loved these two with all of my heart, so I’m really happy that I can return to this tweet and grin.

At the time, performers including Wande Coal, D’Banj, Dr. Sid, and Don Jazzy were signed to the now-defunct Mo Hit Records.

Following the split, D’Prince, Dr. Sid, and Wande Coal joined Don Jazzy in starting a new record label called Mavin Records. Then, performers like Korede Bello, Di’Ja, Reekado Banks, Johnny Drille, Poe, and the DNA Twins were signed by the well-known producer and CEO of MR.

Conversely, D’Banj signed a record deal with American rapper Kanye West’s label, “Good Music.”

He signed his younger brother K-Switch and two producers, Jaysleek and Deevee, when he founded DB Records. Later, Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh was signed by Dbanj to the label.
