I didn’t ask Primeboy to run away, claims Mohbad’s father

Joseph Aloba, the father of the late musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, denied that Owodunni Ibrahim, also known as Primeboy, planned an escape after his son passed away.

In response to an interview conducted by the mother of the deceased, Bosede Adeyemo, Aloba stated that he had not spoken to Primeboy since the incident.

Adeyemo stated in the interview that Primeboy, Mohbad’s childhood buddy, was told to flee by her ex-husband in order to avoid being jailed and to avoid being connected to the late singer’s passing.

But according to a statement made on Friday by Mohbad’s father’s attorney, Monisola Odumosu, the only occasion he ever saw Primeboy was when he appeared in coroner’s court.

The statement read in part, “Our client wishes to state that he did not and has not had any talks or discussions relating to the death of his son or any other issues with the said Primeboy since the death of his son, Ilerioluwa Aloba.

“The only time they met after the death of his son was at the coroner’s court sitting where Primeboy and our client only exchanged pleasantries in the presence of everyone, and there was no discussions between them.”

The statement refuted Adeyemo’s assertion while pointing out that Mohbad’s father was seeking justice for his deceased son.

“Mr. Joseph Aloba will not cover anyone no matter how great or mighty the person may be. He is after justice for the untimely snuffing out of the life of his great son. He uses this opportunity to urge Primeboy to tell the Coroner Court all what he knows without shielding anyone.

“The truth will surely come out even if it takes time. Our client believes that the will of justice may be slow, it will surely grind to the truth.

“We urge the general public to disregard such spurious assertions. Rather, our client urges Ms. Adeyemo to declare what she knows about the death of Mohbad,” the statement added.

Afeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, owned Marlian Records, where Mohbad was signed.

Following Mohbad’s passing, Marley and well-known Lagos socialite Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, were detained and questioned by the Lagos State Police Command to provide details of their knowledge of Mohbad’s demise.

On October 4, 2023, Primeboy was also listed as wanted by the state police command; two days later, he gave himself up.

On March 12, Primeboy and one Ayobami Fisayo, also known as Spending, paid a visit to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti.

According to Benjamin Hundeyin, the state police public relations officer, one of the bail requirements that were given to him during Mohbad’s case was that “he would come to the State CID every Tuesday to sign just to keep an eye on him so that he wouldn’t run away.”
