In the 2024 Men’s World Ranking, the Super Eagles of Nigeria fell two spots from their previous 28th placing to 30th.
The Eagles surpassed Cote d’Ivoire, the 2023 CAF African Cup of Nations champion, and Egypt, the seven-time AFCON champion, according to the list, which was made public by the Federation of International Football Association on Thursday.

Following the AFCON tournament, the Eagles played in two friendly games; they defeated Mali 2-0 and defeated their neighboring rivals, Ghana, 2-1.
The Eagles are only ranked below the Teranga Lions of Senegal and the Atlas Lions of Morocco in African football, according to PUNCH Online.
Argentina, the 2022 World Cup winners, is ranked #1, followed by France, the tournament’s first runner-up.
