The non-profit organization Gift of Chess, located in New York, aims to distribute chess sets worldwide. Tunde Onakoya, a Nigerian chess expert, suffered severe nausea and stomach discomfort on Thursday while participating in the marathon, but he did not give up.
Onakoya and Shawn Martinez, his American counterpart, are aiming to break the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon at Times Square in New York City. The record is set to expire on Friday, April 19.

“That’s #Tunde_OD curled over in pain,” Gift of Chess commented on X. We didn’t think we could go on yesterday because he was throwing up a lot and had stomach ache.
“When given the choice to quit, he said, ‘I will play on for the dreams of millions of children.’
