Chinese abducted in Kwara have been set free
Mr. PengChao Zhang, a Chinese national, was freed from his captors in a state forest by Kwara State Police Command after approximately ten days in a kidnapper’s den.
Zhang, who goes by Williams Kaka among his business associates, was found and saved by police on Tuesday following a series of searches and investigations in the state’s forest by the Police Tactical squad and Vigilante.

Zhang was allegedly kidnapped at the Cherish Guest House in Eyenkorin, on the outskirts of the capital of Kwara State, by a group of six armed men.
Before the incident, the Chinese national was allegedly staying in the guest house for more than two months and conducting business.
In a statement released on Wednesday and bearing the signature of Ejire-Adeyemi Toun, the state police public relations officer, Kwara State Police Command confirmed the foreign national’s rescue.

The Kwara State Police Command is happy to report a major development in the recent kidnapping incident that took place in Eiyenkorin, Ilorin, Kwara State, according to the statement.
“On March 10, 2024, Mr. PengChao Zhang, a Chinese man who was staying in Cherish Guest House Eiyenkorin, Ilorin, was forcibly abducted by six armed men. His business partners called him Williams Kaka. This incident caused anxiety and terror in the neighborhood.

“In the early hours of March 19, 2024, the victim was safely rescued thanks to the execution of a series of strategic searches and investigations by the Command’s Tactical Teams and vigilante, who worked together with great diligence and coordination.
The victim has subsequently been safely reunited with his family, the command is happy to confirm. This accomplishment demonstrates the Kwara State Police Command’s steadfast dedication to guaranteeing the safety and security of all citizens and tourists to the state.
