Buhari laments the former minister Onu, calling him an intellectual giant
On Thursday, Ogbonnaya Onu, the first civilian governor of Abia State and a former minister of science, technology, and innovation, was remembered with sadness by former president Muhammadu Buhari.
Onu, 72, passed away on Thursday.

Onu was called “one of Nigeria’s most outstanding scientific minds and intellectuals” by Buhari in a statement that was signed by Garba Shehu, his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity.
Buhari, who called the former chairman of the All Nigeria Peoples Party a distinguished politician, offered his condolences to the family of the deceased politician.
The statement is titled ‘Buhari mourns intellectual giant Ogbonnaya Onu.’

“He was an intellectual giant.
“My heart goes out to his family, the government and people of Abia State and the country at large.
“May his soul rest in peace,” Buhari.said
