Army – Terrorist killed in Sokoto disguised as a policeman

In Sokoto, soldiers working with vigilantes have taken down a terrorist leader posing as a police officer.

According to reports, the terrorist was operating in the state under the guise of a police officer and committing crimes.

He was slain on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, during a sting operation, according to a statement released on Thursday by Maj-General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations.

He said that one AK-47 gun and a magazine holding four live rounds of special 7.62mm ammo had been found by the troops.

“In a recent sting operation, Nigerian Army troops, working in collaboration with vigilantes, eliminated a dangerous terrorist who was disguising himself as a police officer in Sokoto to commit horrific crimes,” the statement stated.

“The violent extremist who was destroyed on March 20, 2024, Wednesday, had frequently assumed a false identity in order to trick and abduct gullible people. The suspect was neutralized in a gunfight with the military during the sting operation, which was carried out in response to reliable intelligence.

Additionally, a residence that insurgent kingpins used as a secret location to stockpile drugs and heal injured insurgents was discovered and demolished by the soldiers.

“Troops neutralized another insurgent in Kutoko Village, in the Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, during a separate counter-insurgency operation. An AK-47 rifle and a magazine with four live rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition were found as a result of the offensive.

“These actions show the Nigerian Army’s dedication to fighting terrorism and insurgency to protect the country’s safety and security. As we combat the nation’s enemies together, we implore well-intentioned citizens to keep supporting the military.
