A Plateau village attack resulted in 40 deaths and the burning of buildings
Over 40 people are said to have been slain by suspected bandits when they invaded Zurak village in Plateau State’s Bashar District of Wase LGA.
Our source learned that the bandits set fire to many residences during the attack on Monday evening.

According to community residents who confirmed the incident to PUNCH Online in Jos on Tuesday, the incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Monday, while people were going about their normal activities, but they were unable to report it due to the area’s poor communication network.
Sahpi’i Sambo, a youth leader in the region who corroborated the occurrence to our correspondent, said the bandits arrived at the community on two to three motorcycles, armed with sophisticated weapons, and began firing haphazardly at everyone.
He stated, “More than 40 people were killed while many others were injured.”

Residents of the community have evacuated to neighboring settlements for shelter. As of yesterday, security personnel had not yet arrived in the hamlet. It was a fatal attack.
DSP Alabo Alfred, spokesman for the state police command, has not to respond to our correspondent’s inquiries as of the time of filing this story.
