Minister of Works, David Umahi

The Federal Ministry of Works has promised to provide local contractors with equal opportunities in order to promote their involvement in managing road projects around the nation.

To be considered for such contracts, local contractors must follow the finest standards and procedures, according to Minister of Works David Umahi.

He made this statement on Thursday while being praised for the new payment structure for contractors working on federal projects by a team from the Association of Ministry of Works’ Contractors, who paid him a visit in Abuja.

Umahi emphasized the necessity for all contractors to rigorously comply to procurement and job requirements, increased speed, and top standards in a statement made accessible by his special adviser on media, Orji Uchenna. Umahi recognized the significance of road infrastructure to each country’s economy.

Umahi continued, saying that it was now essential for “contractors to prepare to cut down costs in line with the country’s economic realities, having in mind the need for everyone to contribute towards alleviating Nigerians’ sufferings.”

He said that he hoped that the contractors would complete the tasks assigned to them in light of President Bola Tinubu’s prompt intervention in the construction of road infrastructure and the timely delivery of cash to contractors.

“We have to retake the country and save our people from suffering due to bad roads,” the statement said. The road is essential. Good roads will enhance business while reducing abduction and other forms of insecurity. Additionally, there will be less expensive transportation and an increase in social activities.
