Oba Lekan Balogun

Oba Lekan Balogun, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, expressed gratitude to God on Monday for the blessing and honor of marking two years in office. He also expressed gratitude to the members of his advisory council for their unwavering support thus far.

Following the passing of the late Oba Saliu Adetunji, Oba Balogun was given staff of office by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde as the 42nd Olubadan.

In a statement released by his personal assistant for media, Oladele Ogunsola, in the state capital of Ibadan, Balogun said that the second anniversary, which fell on the first day of Ramadan this year, was also a chance for the monarch to request prayers for the nation from the Muslim faithful and expressions of love for one another to relieve the devotees’ stress during this time.

The king declared that having ruled for two years was a unique blessing from his creator that he could not take for granted.

“To me, it seems like yesterday,” he remarked after two years. However, I could never have thought that two years would pass in such a manner for those of you who are close to me. I am incredibly grateful to God for the favor and opportunity. I give Him thanks also for surrounding me with lovely and kind people, who have contributed to the smooth and tranquil rule.

“In the Advisory Council, my siblings and sister are especially mentioned. I am so grateful to them for their cooperation and assistance; they have been just amazing. All I can do is hope that they will have enough of deserving companions when it is their turn to take the seat. I am also grateful to the Ibadanland people in general for their unwavering devotion and dependability, both at home and abroad.

Olubadan underlined the importance of prayers for the nation during the month of the Ramadan fast, which started on Monday, taking into consideration the current issues facing the nation.

“This month is very auspicious to offer prayers for the leaders to steer the nation’s ship toward a safe harbor,” he declared.

The honor bestowed upon the month of Ramadan would avail for us, and our wishes would be granted. There is no better moment than this to engage in earnest prayer for the nation than right now. Once more, this is the ideal time to share what little or much we are fortunate enough to have with our neighbors in order to be our brothers’ keepers.

“He loves a cheerful giver and our little help here and there for our neighbours could make a big difference and make the month a stress-free one. I pray for all that as we have all commenced the Ramadan Fast with Bismillah, we shall all end it with joyful Alhamudulilahi.”
