NLC requests a minimum salary of N794,000 for South West workers
The South West geopolitical political zone’s workers should be paid N794,000 as the new national minimum wage, according to demands made by the Nigeria Labour Congress.
During her presentation on Thursday at the current public hearing of the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage in Ikeja, Lagos, the South West labor union made the demand through Funmi Sessi, the chairperson of the Lagos State chapter of the NLC.

Sessi stated that every union member in the South West had collectively agreed on the demand.
On January 30, 2024, Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing President Bola Tinubu, opened the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja to a 37-member panel discussing the new minimum wage.
