Tension as gunmen in the Plateau slaughter 35 cows and the herder
Unidentified gunmen have murdered 35 cows and a 17-year-old herder in the Fan District’s Nafan hamlet and the Ropp District’s Doruwa Babuje in the Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area of the Plateau.
It was said that the criminals killed the herder by opening fire while riding motorcycles.

An eyewitness described how another herder was seriously hurt during the event.
Caleb Mutfwang, the state governor, has denounced the event and urged the appropriate security forces to find the criminals.
This was said by Governor Mutfwang in a statement released on Thursday in Jos by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Mr. Gyang Bere.

Mutfwang stressed that no act of lawlessness or the murder of defenseless, law-abiding civilians would be tolerated by his government.
“We completely denounce these acts of lawlessness that are jeopardizing the state government’s efforts to establish peaceful coexistence among all citizens.”
“My government will no longer put up with the cruel murders of defenseless people who are going about their lawful business on their farms or in any other area of the State.

Gyang cited Mutfwang as saying, “I have directed the security agencies to hunt and track down the perpetrators of this horrific crimes and ensure justice for the victims.”
Gyang went on to say that in order to help the affected villages return to normalcy, the governor had called on local, religious, and traditional authorities in addition to young people and women’s organizations.
The Governor, expressing sympathy to the families impacted, counseled the people of the State to reveal any criminal elements present in their areas so that they may be held fully accountable by the law.
