Newcastle enters the race for Osimhen
According to PUNCH Sports Extra, Newcastle United has entered the running to sign Victor Osimhen in 2025, and the club’s owners, the Public Investment Fund, are prepared to activate the Nigerian’s £113 million release clause.
Lee Ryder of Chronicle Live reports that the Magpies are one of several teams that will have the opportunity to recruit the 25-year-old striker, who is presently on loan from Napoli at Galatasaray in Turkey.

Since joining Galatasaray in September, the former Lille striker has been in incredible form, scoring eight goals in nine appearances across all competitions, including six in the Turkish Super Lig.
His most recent contribution was two goals in Sunday’s 3-2 victory over Samsunspor, which kept Galatasaray undefeated and increased their advantage at the top of the Turkish Super Lig to six points.
Jose Mourinho, the manager of Roma, has previously praised Osimhen’s abilities and thinks the Nigerian is deserving of a large investment.

Osimhen is an amazing athlete. Mourinho told The Independent, “He is a player that I would buy if I were in a club with the ability to pay £70-75 million.”
The Portuguese tactician’s current club, Fenerbahce, is reportedly considering a proposal that would surpass Galatasaray’s suggested permanent transfer fee of €50 million because of his fondness for the former Lille player.
However, Napoli Sporting Director Giovanni Manna has set a minimum price for any potential suitor.

“There are many clubs interested in Victor Osimhen. Galatasaray cannot take Osimhen if it does not pay a net fee of €75m,” Manna stated.
Following a quiet summer transfer window, Newcastle’s manager Eddie Howe is eager to expand his attacking options, which is why he is showing interest. Although St. James’ Park’s profit and sustainability rules may make any possible deal more difficult, supporters are thrilled about the possibility of combining Osimhen with current striker Alexander Isak.
After unsuccessful attempts to sign the striker last summer, Chelsea and a number of Saudi Pro League clubs are still interested in him, paving the way for what could be a fierce competition for his services in 2025.

Acun Ilıcalı, the vice president of Fenerbahce, seems less eager to pursue Osimhen, pointing to the team’s current forward alternatives.
“There is Dzeko, there is En Nesyri, and there is also Cenk. Who will play?” Ilıcalı questioned during a recent television appearance.
