The United States has finished its initial soldier withdrawal from Niger
The first phase of the US forces’ and equipment’s withdrawal from Nigerien territory came to a conclusion on Monday, according to announcements made by the US Department of Defense and the Ministry of National Defense of Niger.
The declaration was made during the signing of documents at Air Base 101 in Niamey, the capital of Niger, relinquishing American rights to the Nigerien army.

In the presence of US ambassador Kathleen FitzGibbon and other prominent figures from both nations’ militaries and civic society, American rights were transferred to the Nigerien army at Air Base 101 in the capital city of Niamey, Niger.
The deal, according to Niger Army Chief of Staff Colonel Mamane Sani Kiaou, asks for the withdrawal of all US military hardware from Niger.
The agreement calls for the removal of all American military assets in Niger “including those in Niamey, Agadez, Ouallam and Diffa by Sept. 15.”

The US will concentrate on leaving Air Base 201 in Agadez City after removing personnel and equipment from Air Base 101.
He went on, “Nigerien and American officials will cooperate to guarantee a safe, orderly, and responsible withdrawal.”

By September 15, American forces had formally declared their withdrawal from the African country.
