Fubara orders an examination of the Rivers LGA’s accounts
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has mandated an examination of the 23 Local Government Areas’ financial records for the last three years.
On Wednesday, in the Executive Council Chamber of the Government House in Port Harcourt, the state capital, Fubara handed the order to the state’s Auditor General while ordaining the Caretaker Committee Chairmen of the local councils.

The governor stated that the goal of the accounts audit is to hold the new chairman to a higher standard of accountability and to act as a check on them.
Fubara called on the interim chairmen to stand up for the rights of their people and prove that the government had made the correct choice in selecting them.

A probe of the terms of the departing local government chairman was also requested by the governor.
