In the opening match of Euro 2024, host Germany defeats Scotland 5-1
2024’s hosts for Euro Germany defeated Scotland, reduced to ten players, 5-1, to start their quest for a record fourth continental crown on Friday.
Before halftime, Kai Havertz scored a third goal from the penalty spot after Ryan Porteous was sent off for a two-footed challenge on Ilkay Gundogan. Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala had already scored goals in the first 20 minutes of play in Munich.

Alternatives After Scotland earned a late consolation goal through an own goal by Antonio Ruediger, Germany’s Niclas Fuellkrug and Emre Can both found the back of the net in the second half.
