531 candidates’ results are released by JAMB
An extra 531 results from the recently held Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations have been made public by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, bringing the total number of results revealed to 1,842,897.
This information was released on Tuesday in Abuja by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Board’s Public Communication Advisor.

According to Benjamin, the Board has screened more than 64,000 results that were withheld because of examination malpractice.
He stated, “Other cases of examination misconduct were also established during the exercise to make a tally of 92 from the 81 initially discovered.”
He went on to say that the Board was considering situations involving candidates who had not been verified and would soon announce a position.

He continued by saying that several false articles claiming that an unidentified applicant who did not participate in the Board’s 2024 UTME received scores had caught the attention of the Board.
Benjamin urged the public to ignore such publications and called this phony, malevolent, and a planned attempt to compromise the Board’s credibility.
According to him, the magazine that makes such a serious accusation lacks the candidate’s details necessary for accurate confirmation.

“The Board is not surprised as this is the season of mischief makers, who would want to deceive gullible candidates.
“The examination template of the Board is designed with the highest sense of responsibility and is not an allocation platform where scores are doled out to candidates.
“It is most unfortunate that anybody could even believe such narration or that the story could even gain traction given the Board’s integrity.

“This again has gone to further vindicate the Board’s stance that candidates should desist from disclosing their classified details to third parties,” he said.
He claimed that the Board found that some of these miscreants had copied results that were delivered to other candidates when they looked into some of these complaints.
After editing the information provided to them, they present it as coming from the Board.

“The Board challenges any parent, candidate, or other person making such a claim to disprove it by providing the specifics of their claims, along with the phone number used to communicate the results,” he said.
According to him, this event would only encourage the Board to tighten up the process of verifying its findings and make them more individualized.
Benjamin claimed that even though it should be an easy exercise, it would be strict.

The Board reaffirmed that none of its procedures or outcomes have been jeopardized.
“Hence, it will continue to protect the integrity of its systems against such malicious actors, who are hell-bent on creating confusion where none existed,” he said.
According to Benjamin, in order to make it more difficult for anyone to change, the Board will be adding more features, such as registration numbers, to the current UTME result-checking procedure moving forward.

He advised them to safeguard their personal information, warning them that they would be considered collaborators if they were discovered to be involved with any of these nefarious groups.
According to a JAMB representative, sending UTMERESULT to 55019 or 66019 is still the only way to verify the results of the 2024 UTME; no other mechanism is available.

As a result, he stated that the outcome is not currently available on the Board website.
The results of the 2024 UTME were issued by the Board last week, however it was mentioned that approximately 64,000 results were still being looked into.
