FULL LIST -Best Universities in Nigeria: Covenant maintains its top varsity ranking, defeating UI and FUTA

For the second consecutive year, Covenant University has been named the best university in Nigeria by Times Higher Education, beating out the University of Ibadan and the Federal University of Technology, Akure.

The university located in Ota, Ogun State, is among the top 1,000 universities in the world, according to an analysis of the most recent rating released on Thursday.

First coming to light in 2018, the institution ranked 801st in the world was awarded the title of top university in Nigeria and sixth best university overall.

The Federal University of Technology, Akure took third place, and the University of Ibadan came in second place, behind Covenant, as the best university in Nigeria.

According to the ranking website, 1,904 universities from 108 countries and regions are included in the World University ranking.

“The Times Higher World University ranking includes 1,904 universities across 108 countries and regions.

“The table is based on our new WUR 3.0 methodology, which is carefully calibrated performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across five areas; teaching, research environment, research quality, industry and international outlook,: it said.

The University of Benin, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Lagos State University, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Obafemi Awolowo University, the University of Ilorin, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Afe Babalola University, and the University of Benin are among the other Nigerian universities that rank highly.

There are nine South West universities, two South East universities, two South-South universities, one North West university, and one North Central university among the top 15.
