600 displaced and one died from the Osun rainstorm—NEMA
The Iloko hamlet in Oriade Local Government Area, Osun State, was severely damaged by a downpour, resulting in the displacement of over 600 people and the verified death of one person.
It was reported in March that a severe downpour that created havoc in the town and demolished residences of inhabitants in Iloko-Ijesa, the state, cost residents and traders millions of naira in lost goods.

The National Emergency Management Agency released a statement on its X handle on Wednesday, providing an update on the damage assessment. It read, “NEMA Southwest Zonal Office, in collaboration with Osun State SEMA and community leaders, assessed the rainstorm disaster in Iloko, Oriade LGA of Osun State.”
“The team, led by AZC Olanrewaju Kazeem, was warmly received by Oba Akeem Ogungbangbe.

“The Oba and community leaders appreciated the quick response and briefed the team on the situation.
“The assessment revealed extensive damage, including property destruction, loss of livelihoods, and one fatality. Over a thousand people were affected, and 600 displaced.”
