A deputy commissioner of police commits suicide in Oyo
Gbolahan Oyedemi, a deputy commissioner of police employed with the Force Criminal and Investigation Department in Alagbon, Lagos State, is alleged to have killed himself on Monday in his residence in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
According to The PUNCH, Oyedemi served as the late state governor Adebayo Alao-Akala’s Aide de Camp for the 11 months he served as acting governor in 2006.

On Tuesday in the state capital of Ibadan, a family-friendly source informed our correspondent over the phone that Oyedemi, who typically traveled to his hometown to celebrate Easter, instructed his assistants to head to their respective towns over the weekend to join their relatives in celebrating.
The insider confirmed, “Yes, he committed suicide. His body was found hanging in his house yesterday (Monday). He stays alone, and he normally comes home for Easter celebrations

“This time, he told his aides to go and celebrate with their family members in their various homes. Only God knows what could have prompted him to commit suicide.”

Adewale Osifeso, the state police public relations officer, was not approachable at his mobile number, so all attempts to elicit a response from him were failed.
But Oyedemi’s death was confirmed after DSP Eguaoje Funmilayo, the FCID, Alagbon Police Public Relations Officer, was contacted.
Funmilayo added that there was still uncertainty over the circumstances of his demise.
“No one can tell specifically what the cause of his death is until an investigation is carried out. There is no official statement from the Inspector General of Police yet.
“So, I won’t be able to tell you anything about it for now. No official statement is approved by the IG,” she said.
