Search out sponsors of communal violence, the Plateau government directs security personnel
Caleb Mutfwang, the governor of Plateau State, has denounced the outbreak of intercommunal violence that has caused property damage and injuries among the people living in the villages that border the state’s Mikang and Langtang North local government areas.
Following the violence that broke out on Saturday and Sunday, Mutfwang expressed his condolences to the victims and criticized the altercations as needless and inappropriate.

The PUNCH in Jos was informed on Sunday of the development by the state’s commissioner of information, Musa Ashoms.
The governor ordered security personnel to pursue individuals responsible for the violent attacks in the impacted villages in a statement released on Monday.
The declaration, which was signed by Gyang Bere, his Director of Press and Public Affairs, emphasized how these actions undercut the government’s attempts to promote harmony and peace among people of different racial and religious backgrounds in order to further the development and prosperity of the state.

Mutfwang expressed his disgust with the conflict and emphasized the value of discussion as the most polite and successful way to resolve disputes.
He wondered why people were turning to violence, enforcing the law on their own, and setting arson to towns that were innocent.
“The governor called on security agencies to respond decisively and to hold the perpetrators and their sponsors accountable to the full extent of the law. He also urged swift mobilization to the affected areas to prevent any further escalation of the situation.

“Reaffirming his administration’s dedication to establishing lasting peace throughout the state, Governor Mutfwang said he looks forward to a united, tranquil, and thriving Plateau where all citizens, regardless of faith or ethnicity, support one another in a spirit of brotherhood,” the statement added.
