A five-day holiday is declared in Niger to observe Ramadan feeding

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago

Next week, the Niger State Government has scheduled a five-day public holiday to ensure efficient distribution and oversight of Ramadan food items.

The state’s 25 local government districts had N976 million in funding set aside by the government previously for the purchase of food supplies.

This was revealed in a statement released on Friday by the state’s commissioner of information, Binta Mamman. She stated that the purpose of the public holidays was to allow public employees and office holders to oversee and deliver the Ramadan meals.

“Monday to Friday next week have been declared public holidays. This is to enable civil servants and political office holders to participate in the distribution and monitoring of the palliatives and Ramadan feeding in their various local government areas,” she stated.

For a seamless and effective exercise, the commissioner asked citizens to cooperate with the officials and be orderly at all distribution and feeding sites. He also called to political officeholders and civil personnel to view the task as a call for service to mankind.

Mamman praised Governor Mohammed Bago for providing funding and urged people to take advantage of the chance to pray for the calm and peace of the state and all of Nigeria.
